My sweet husband is a type 2 diabetic that has struggled to accept this diagnosis. He has not protected his health as a result. When he began suffering with achy cold feet due to decreased distal circulation, he tried placing an activated chemically heated packet between 2 socks on each foot. Following several successful nights of warmed toes, he awakened one morning with a quarter sized blister in the arch of one foot (where the packet had migrated while he slept). He pricked it with a pin to relieve the pressure. When the pain increased to the point that he could hardly walk on it, he decided to share it with me. It was inflamed and had obviously become infected. During a visit to the local ER, he was treated with antibiotics and the blister was opened and the ulcerative focal lesion was cultured. He was to follow up with a podiatrist. He made multiple phone calls and left many messages without results. Although he took all the antibiotics and we performed meticulous dressing changes as instructed, the lesion continued to appear red and “angry”. As we have previously used this black seed ointment to treat numerous skin issues, we decided to try it on his foot. Within a few days it was much improved. Within a week it was well on its way to healing, and now is good as new.
